CAVOK has the proven expertise to help new and merging carriers gain certification and existing carriers get regulatory approval for major operational changes. CAVOK is proud to be one of the first designated Qualified Certification Consultants (QCC) of the Federal Aviation Administration. As a QCC we provide services to prepare a prospective part 121 applicant for the FAA formal application process in certification.

In fact, CAVOK has successfully supported every major US carrier merger since 2008 to obtain a Single Operating Certificate (SOC). In addition, for several carriers, we’ve provided experienced teams to help guide and manage major Operations Specifications (Op Specs) changes such as new fleet type entries into service and accelerated ETOPS authorizations.

CAVOK also offers a wide range of global services to help certificate holders resolve or prevent regulatory failures over non-compliance, safety system or quality lapses.

The Situation

An established regional carrier, the client is one of the largest players in the US market.

With fleet expansion, the client asked CAVOK to:

Assist in adding a new aircraft make and model to the Air Operating Certificate for Entry-Into-Service.
Guide it through the FAA’s Major Change Process.

Approach

CAVOK developed a detailed project plan identifying major milestones as agreed upon with the carrier.

CAVOK’s unrivaled relationship with the FAA offices involved and our experience with the Air Operating Certificate for Entry-Into-Service sped up the client’s request.

CAVOK and the carrier met with the FAA to get agreement on the plan and a Schedule of Events (SoE).

Carrier stakeholders received weekly reports that identified risks, and monthly meetings were held with the FAA on the project’s status, the next steps and to review the schedule.

CAVOK provided advisory counsel, end-to-end monitoring, risk mitigation, and assistance in adding the aircraft into passenger operations.

Results

CAVOK navigated the project seamlessly through FAA offices to obtain the required Op Specs on time.

Developed and monitored the completion of manuals and maintenance program modifications to support aircraft operations per the SoE.

Successful completion of the ERJ-175 addition to the client’s Air Operating Certificate by the target revenue service date.
