The Situation
The client, a major leasing company was contracted to provide an A319 as an export under EASA regulations. However, the candidate aircraft was operating in the Americas under FAA regulations. The client needed someone to import the aircraft into Europe and then simultaneously export the aircraft back out to the Middle East to the new client.
Approach
CAVOK was contracted to import the aircraft into Europe, carry out a bridging check to the latest MPD standards, and carry out an Airworthiness Review Recommendation to allow the aircraft to be registered in an EASA Member State, whilst at the same time carrying out the necessary work to export the aircraft from Europe and meet the regulatory requirements of the new Operator's Regulators.
Results
Working closely with the client, the new operator and the Regulatory Authorities, CAVOK identified all the requirements to make the aircraft compliant to transfer from FAA to EASA regulations. These were then appended to the work package as part of the aircraft’s C Check bridging input.
CAVOK also worked with the new operator to ensure that all their customer requirements were identified and that the required modifications to change placards etc from English/Spanish to English/Arabic were accomplished.
Bottom Line
CAVOK enabled the aircraft to be registered in Europe prior to the start of the bridging check, and at the completion of the input, CAVOK applied for and received an Export Certificate of Airworthiness for the aircraft from the EASA Member State. In the same day, CAVOK applied for and received new certificates of Registration and Airworthiness from the new operator’s regulatory authority. This allowed the aircraft to enter into service as planned by the new operator with no costly delays.
